Strategies for women to make Peaceful, Purposeful, Progress this year.

Posted On: Monday, January 23, 2017

As modern day women we all want something more in life—or to get rid of something unwanted in our lives. I believe that true progress is not necessarily in reaching a destination, because a new destination will always present itself. Rather, it is in making purposeful progress that feels good, while moving closer to what we want. Ideally we want to make this progress in life-affirming ways, with definite aim, without rushing or pushing, in a way that is essentially peaceful.

Clara Angelina DiazIt’s not through constant busyness and anxious pursuits of long to-do lists that important things get done. It’s through peaceful, purposeful actions. I once heard renowned coach Martha Beck say, “Everything comes to you at peace.” Isn’t peace what we are aiming for in the pursuit of what we want? Don’t we want to feel better, to feel some sense of ease?

To make peaceful progress:

  • Create a clear and simple statement of what you want.
  • Acknowledge what you are already doing and what you have right now that will help you move forward.
  • Be nice to yourself and exercise self-care in the pursuit of what you want.
  • Define the reason why you want what you want. (“It’s important to me.” is reason enough.)
  • Apply the 10-90 rule: 90% of your results come from 10% of your actions. Less is truly more. Focus on the essential few actions you can take.
  • Have faith that the universe has your back.
  • Be around people who can support you and hold you accountable.
  • Recommit daily to what you want, and follow your intuition daily.
  • Take 100% responsibility for your life, and exercise your freedom of choice to think, be, do and have what you want.
  • Stop being hard on yourself.

As women, we are more powerful than we know. Let’s move forward with ease, grace and purpose in the direction of what we want the most. It doesn’t matter what your goal is; you have the right to move in the direction of your greatest dream.
