Martine Whitman, Author and Educator:  Martine will share how the simple word SHINE helped her after the sudden death of her husband in his fifties.  It has been a constant source of strength on her journey forward.  In her first book, When the Stars S.H.I.N.E., she offers her readers a new perspective on how to live your best life just the way you are.

  • Mother of three adult children; grandmother of five grandchildren.
  • Worked in the field of education for twenty years, supporting students with learning disabilities in the classroom
  • Created Project SHINE to help young people achieve their hopes and dreams, renew their commitment to excellence, and learn in a supportive environment.
  • Retired and passionately pursuing making a difference in the world.
  • Wrote my first book after the loss of my husband, inspired by a simple word – SHINE.
  • When the Stars S.H.I.N.E. offers a new perspective on how to live your best life, searching for purpose and meaning.
  • Will be on the National Civility Foundation’s recommended reading list soon.
