In Celebration of the Dream Factory Community: Deborah’s Experience

We’ve asked members, past & present, to share their Dream Factory Community experience as a part of our 17th Birthday Celebration. Here is Deborah’s story:

“In the Dream Factory, we talk about becoming a self-transformer. Transformation is a dramatic change in form, appearance, or character according to the Google Oxford dictionary. Sudden or large change can be overwhelming to consider. Metamorphosis is a gentler process occurring over time that contains the notion of maturation from one stage of life to another and includes a change in the nature of a thing. It is the slow process of growth and becoming.

One certainty about life: it is metamorphosis, holding life-changing experiences that constantly form us into new and different beings from those we were prior to experiencing them. Change and growth is the very nature of being alive.

The Dream Factory Community’s Dream Creation Process gave me a simple blueprint and some practical tools with which to become an active creator and participant in my own innate process of metamorphosis. It became a long-term life guidebook for creating meaningful, intentional, living – something I had no concept of many years ago.

Swimming out into the world at a young age I was frightened. I grabbed onto marriage, children, job, and house like my life depended on them – and held on to them for over 40 years. None of these are bad things – I love my family, which grew up on me, my husband, who changed on me, and my job, which was once the perfect job, but about 13 years ago after the children were raised I began to realize my world, which once seemed so big and challenging, had shrunk. Not that it had shrunk, but that I had passed through those gateways and needed to see beyond them to find myself outside of the life I had carefully constructed.

After 35 years of accounting, business management and home management, a predictable life, I entered the Dream Factory – CDO training was the scariest thing I had done in decades. There I visioned a different me, sketched my dream, acknowledged my wants and needs and developed the skills to pursue them.

I battled the fears and saboteurs who breathed limiting thoughts and feelings at me. I used the amazing support of the community and followed the plans and intentions I created, left my job, wrote my book, healed in my marriage, and allowed my children to fly. I went to the rainforest and met with shamans, I burst out in poetry and built a website. I learned energy healing techniques and started a professional practice. This is metamorphosis. And I continue dreaming, visioning, planning, creating, becoming. Because what we learn in the Dream Factory Community is a Process for Life, it is my constant blueprint for living, embedded in my energetic DNA after years of practice.

So often in my Circle Leader days in the Dream Factory Community, I would welcome a new member who contacted me saying they weren’t sure they were ready to attend a CDO Circle meeting, because their dream had changed, or life had changed between the time they completed their CDO Training and their Circle meeting started. My response was always, you are in the right place! Come, and be in a safe circle of women who have developed both deep compassion through the recognition of their own process of metamorphosis, and the resiliency and courage to create powerful, purposeful lives in community together being supported by the Dream Creation Process.”
