Letting Go in Order to Step Into My Success

About 2 1/2 years ago, I serendipitously met Dream Factory member Leslie Ackles at a friends’ mutual birthday party in Woods Hole.  I had never met Leslie before yet we immediately had a connection and talked for nearly the whole party about our jobs, our dreams and even the studio where we both taught.  I told Leslie about my GirlPower! Program, which is a holistic wellness program for 10 to 14 year old girls.  I explained how watching my daughter struggle during her formative years with self esteem issues led me to create this program which would help girls discover their strengths and be happy with who they are.   Even though the program was 4 years old and unique in nature, I was having trouble launching it, and was deciding whether to continue.

She told me about the Dream Factory which was all about women helping other women to achieve their dreams.  I joined immediately and during my CDO Training, I explained how some difficult family issues were preventing me from putting my full energy behind the program.  I remember Nancy Cantor’s words….”maybe you need to dance with this; perhaps your family is where your energy needs to be right now and GirlPower! Needs to come second for a while until you can put other things in perspective.”

With the help of the Dream Factory and individual Coaching with my CDO Circle Leader, Leslie Ackles, I assessed my life and slowly started to let go of things that were draining me….a toxic friendship, classes that weren’t thriving, and most recently, my role in the family business.  I found I had more energy and space in my heart for things that mattered.  I nearly let go of the Dream Factory in the spring because I felt my dream career wasn’t improving.

Through coaching Leslie said she felt my career was ready to explode but I needed to run toward the Dream Factory, not away from it.  Leslie was running the spring Dream Factory conference, and asked me to co-create the final session. Simultaneously, I asked my amazing CDO Circle friends to assist me in getting the word out about GirlPower!

As a result, this summer, the sixth summer of GirlPower!, was the most successful yet, with 23 girls from 10 communities participating.  My  therapeutic  dance business is thriving as well (dancingwellness.com) and in fact I picked up three additional classes in three communities in the last week! Good things are happening because of my relationship with the Dream Factory Community. I am letting go of what is not serving me and I am stepping into success. Thank you!
