Nancy Cantor has been a business consultant for the past 20 years. In that capacity, she runs the Dream Factory Community for women solo entrepreneurs and The Entrepreneurs Connection for small Business Owners. She focuses on Teamwork, Leadership and Communication and has worked with Leadership Teams at Fidelity Investments, Next Generation Children Centers, and Framingham State University.
Nancy believes leaders motivate their teams through clear communication. Leaders are most impactful when they clearly communicate their vision and ensure their teams buy into the vision. Since visions change, it’s necessary for leaders to keep communicating actively. Communication really never ends.
She suggests leaders use meetings to build consensus and share leadership ideas and stories, rather than simply using meetings to hear the status of projects. In her work with Fidelity Investments, she saw that when leaders are encouraged to share what’s working and not working, they learn from each other, appreciate the new ideas and expand their repertoire of best leadership practices. This process builds community—reducing the silo effect in organizations.
Nancy was voted Small Business Owner of the Year by the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce in 2008 as Principal of Cantor Consulting.
